On April 25th, 2014 I was sentenced by the Federal Eastern District Court of Virginia to 2 1/2 years in federal prison. Their charge and claim was that I threatened a Zionist organization. While I "thought" I was not violating any laws and did not see it as a threat,apparently I was wrong and over stepped my limits. I initially was issued and indictment on 4 charges that held a combined sentence of 40 years in prison. The DOJ offered me a plea to accept guilt of 1 charge of the 4 of my choice or go to trial. I chose 1 of the counts and the Judge sentenced me to 2 and 1/2 years in jail plus 3 years probation. With that being said I would like to clear a few of the slanderous rumors floating around on the web.
1. "Yousef became a Sufi to distract the feds and not be arrested."
False. I left RM in Dec.2009 & was very much Qaradawi in ideology. I did not learn proper aaqeedah or the importance of following a madhab until late 2010 and it still took me about a year to understand Ahlus Sunnah properly in it's basic form. Sufism is very much part of Islam & the questioning of the heart I follow most sincere Wahabis would not object to.(as it is mentioned by their own misguided Sheikhs) I find many modern day 'Sufis' just as insane as the Wahabia and don't give them a Carte Blance for all their statements. I left Anthropomorphic Wahabism for 'Ashari Creed and 1 of the 4 remaining Mathahabs.
2. "Yousef cooperated (became an informant) against others indicted from RM"
False. I never became an informant but was offered "a deal" if I did I could have my jail time reduced. I opted out. I am willing to take Mubahala live with anybody that claims otherwise.
3. "Yousef sold out"
False. Palestine belongs to the Palestinian Muslims and the Palestinian Christians. When I saw a group of Zionists celebrating the bombing of a civilian population by the 'Israeli' military using illegal phosphorus bombs that kill and poison indiscriminately men,women and children I protested BUT I DID IT WRONG & EXCEEDED THE LEGAL LIMITS AND THE LIMITS OF PROPER SOCIAL BEHAVIOR. I did it wrong! WRONG! There are many legal means to condemn those atrocities and assist in boycotting and lobbying against the Zionist Entity.
Ignoring and disassociating with the Mujasimah Wahabia is not "selling out" rather it is the only way to marginalize and amputate the gangrene disease of modern day 'Salafia'.
4. Allah Exists Without a Place. Whosoever says or believes or is in doubt that Allah is on something,limited by a direction or location or has limbs has blasphemed. No difference if they are 'Jihadi Salafi',Islamic Awakening Forum or 'Sufi'
5. I do NOT advocate violence against Jews & in fact I am greatly influenced by Jews like Norman Finkelstein, Howard Zinn, William Blum, Noam Chomsky & even Milton Friedman to a lesser extent.
6. Islam is the solution to all the above problems,you just need to find a teacher and a madhab with proper creed to understand that.
