Let me give you an overview of what that took place in Rio de janiro, Brazil by olympian, Ryan Lochte and his swimming teammates.

The security guards just happened to be brown, so I am sure Lochte tried to use that to his advantage!
So, what really happened in Rio? The head of Rio de Janeiro’s civil police, Fernando Veloso, said the story told by Lochte and the additional three U.S. swimmers was false. Veloso said the athletes vandalized a bathroom in a gas station early Sunday morning, then confronted by armed security.
When on the other end of the spectrum, olympic gymnast Gabby Douglas, who is black, was put under extreme scrutiny this Olympics for not putting her hand on her heart over the national anthem. She did something so small but is put under scrutiny.
Mario Andrada, communications director for Rio 2016 defended the athletes by saying,"Let's give these kids a break. Sometimes you take actions that you later regret. They are magnificent athletes. Lochte is one of the best swimmers of all times." Also, you are a 32-year-old man but if we say you are a kid, it will be okay! You broke the law, acted like a thug, vandalized a bathroom, and were trashy drunk.... but we will let it slide!
Why are these athletes only getting a slap on the wrist? Indictment is a formal process that happens at the end of an investigation and hasn’t taken place yet. In this case, who know if it ever will. They were told not to leave the country until the investigation was done but Lochte is back in the U.S.
So, what two things got Lochte off the hook for his crimes and not being put in jail? Though Lochte is half cuban, his white privilege and being a star athlete kept him out of jail. White privilege is something you get from having white skin, it doesn't matter what your race is.
Not only did he use his privilege card, he also played the victim and lied to the police! He put the blame on the brown security guards!
I am sure that if he was black, the people at the gas station would have possibly shot him.
