Egyptian-American, Rami Malek wins the Emmy award for outstanding lead actor in a drama series, for his role in Mr. Robot!
Malek is the first ever Egyptian-American to win a Emmy award, in addition to it being his first ever Emmy nomination! He is also the first non-white person in 18 years to win this award as well.
Rami Malek gave an acceptance speech that gave me chills.
Not only was Rami Malek up for an Emmy but the Mr. Robot series was up for two as well. Though they lost.
The Director and screen writer for Mr. Robot, Sam Esmail is also an Egyptian American, accepted the Emmy for the series.
Sam Esmail is a Muslim American, born to Egyptian parents, and finance to Emmy Rossum.
I am glad to see that there was some diversity at the Emmy's.
